Meriski helps skiers get fit for slopes as Méribel opens for winter

Meriski helping guests prepare themselves physically for the demands of the ski slopes as the winter season opens in Méribel.

The luxury catered-chalet operator has appointed a Meriski Ski Fit coach to devise personal training plans for guests heading for the French ski resort this winter. Silas Cullen, a New Zealander with extensive experience of competing in and training athletes for endurance events, will lay the foundations for a fantastic ski experience.

Meriski guests signing up for the programme will get their own personalised web page hosting a daily routine prepared by Silas, with explanations, videos and photos of how to perform each exercise, tips on how to avoid fatigue, plus unlimited email and phone contact. It costs £150 per person and the fee comes with a 100 per cent money-back guarantee.

Meanwhile, two additions to Meriski’s 2015-16 collection, newly built for the season, are ready to welcome guests. Chalet Le Grenier  opposite the Morel chairlift has six en-suite bedrooms, sleeping 12, a huge living area with a triple-height window overlooking the valley, and luxury facilities including a Jacuzzi, sauna, gym and, to aid weary limbs, a lift. Costing from €36,000 (£25,997) per week, the chalet is only available to book as a whole property.

Chalet Kashmir is a new six-bedroom, six-bathroom, spacious chalet, sleeping 12, set in a peaceful location in La Gittaz. Wow factors include a master suite with private balcony and an outdoor hot tub on the south-west facing terrace. Priced from £12,950 per week, it will be available to book as a whole chalet and, on selected dates, by the room.

Also new this winter is K2, a super-chalet for up to 22 people, comprising Chalet Kashmir and its neighbouring sister property Chalet Kalliste, which costs from £23,350 per week.

Meriski holidays include accommodation, breakfast and afternoon tea daily, sparkling wine and canapés and four-course dinner to 2 AA Rosette standard on six nights, as well as all wine, beer and soft drinks, the services of chalet staff and an in-resort chauffeur from 8am to 10pm.
