Villa-booking website To Tuscany has created a free trail to mark the 300th anniversary of the delineation of the Chianti wine-growing area by Cosimo III de’ Medici.
To Tuscany’s ‘10 Chianti Classics’ is a selection of new and recommended activities and experiences, hand-picked by the team, to help guests make the most of their holiday during this anniversary year. From wine-tastings to star-gazing, open-air concerts to ice-cream-making demonstrations, the fun suggestions can be enjoyed by young and old alike.
Each suggestion can be viewed online at or downloaded onto mobile devices with live links to Google maps, plotting the different destinations. It can also be simply printed off as a hard copy to take along on the journey.
There’s the chance to taste some of the best wines produced in the region and tour a world-class collection of art at Castello di Ama. Here, visitors can combine tastings of renowned vintages, including the Chianti Classico Vigneto La Casuccia, with a tour of works by artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Anish Kapoor.
You don’t have to be named Hannibal Lecter to appreciate this trip
