HOLIDAY CHORE WARS

No surprises it’s as I suspected all along, women do the lion's share of chores in the run up to a holiday, with many men not even bothering to pack their own suitcase, according to a new YouGov survey. I bet they still expect their socks and sandals to be in there.

The survey, commissioned by iCarhireinsurance.com, the leading supplier of stand-alone car hire excess insurance, looked at who has responsibility for what when it comes to our nation's holidays.

When holidaying abroad with a partner, over a third of women with children in the household do ALL the family packing, compared with a measly 6% of men, and while 92% of women pack their own cases, the same can only be said of 66% of men.

Women are also more likely to take the lead when it comes to researching their holiday options, from which country they go to and the resort they stay in, to the type of accommodation (69% women v 52% men).

Other Statistics

Booking car hire 21% women v 34% men

Arranging the foreign currency 64% women v 67% men

Car- Hire excess insurance 30% women v 34% men who have hired a car

Looking after passports and tickets 71% women v 56% men

Ensuring passport details are up to date 58% women v 44% men

"It's clear that women are in the driving seat when it comes to ensuring that they get the type of holiday that they want, even if this extends to actually putting their loved ones' smalls in the suitcase to get them off on their annual trip," said Ernesto Suarez, CEO and founder of iCarhireinsurance.com.

"Men are more likely to take responsibility for organising the hire car and the car hire excess insurance, which they hopefully buy in advance from an independent insurance provider, like iCarhireinsurance.com.
