Walks Worldwide offers a number of lesser-known and lesser-trodden paths to the summit of Kilimanjaro including the Shira Route. The group will arrive at the summit of Uhuru Peak, at 5895m, on Christmas Day. The Shira Route allows additional time to acclimatise that can make all the difference in attempting to reach the summit. It also has an element of wilderness, as you approach from the west and cross the impressive caldera of the Shira volcano. The group will trek beneath the spectacular hanging glacier of the Western Breach and the flanks of Kibo, with views of Mount Meru floating in the distance.
