No slaving over a hot stove whoopee!
We don’t know about you, but we get a little irritated whilst preparing Christmas Lunch, watching everybody else starting on the Bucks Fizz for breakfast, then continuing to experiment with the drinks cabinet up until lunch time, whilst we keep looking at our watches wondering if it’s yard arm time, as we don’t want to peak too soon and ruin lunch, on reflection I believe it’s jealousy rather than irritation, so why not leave all that behind?
Take all the favourite festive traditions, throw in a few special treats, and add a stunning location on the banks of Lake Windermere in Cumbria, and you have a Christmas break to remember.
With a unique waterside setting and fabulous views of the lake and surrounding fells, Lakeside Hotel and Spa is especially warm and welcoming at Christmas, with log fires blazing, Christmas trees sparkling and restaurant tables laden with the finest food and drink. A four-night package includes mince pies and gin slings on arrival, a cruise on the lake with lunch, a guided fell walk, and tickets to visit local attractions.
In addition, the heated indoor pool in Lakeside’s luxury spa will be open every day for a relaxing swim, or guests can book a pampering spa treatment every day except Christmas Day. Families are welcome, with a visit from Santa Claus promised after breakfast on Christmas Day. Another popular tradition after the traditional lunch is for guests to swap roles with waiters and serve hard-working staff their well-earned meal.
Festivities kick off at the four-star, privately-owned hotel near Newby Bridge with an evening drinks reception on December 23. The four-night stay starts at £950 per person sharing a woodland room, including all meals and activities, tickets for the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Lakeland Motor Museum, and an informal casino night on Boxing Day. A five-night break, beginning December 22, costs from £1,075 per person.
